How we do it
The trick is stopping the stones from wandering. We dig out, lay a compacted base and a weed membrane, then fit a honeycomb grid that locks the gravel in place. Solid edging goes round the whole drive and a block apron at the entrance keeps stones off the pavement.

Will gravel get kicked onto the road?
Very little, thanks to the grid and the block apron across the entrance.
